09 Oct DIY His and Hers hex bracelets
You have seen my design sense and style, so for this entry I wanted to shake things up a bit. Today I am celebrating my 5 year wedding anniversary to the most loving husband and best father to our twins.
Twins was the key word there, meaning we are always on a budget in our house. So instead of rushing out and wasting money and time on an item that he might not appreciate I decided to make him something more meaningful. He is such a simple man and doesn’t care for material things. I knew he would appreciate something home/handmade.
After a lot of brainstorming, I decided I was going to dig up my elementary school bracelet making skills. I did some research via Pinterest for ideas and inspiration and followed the design and steps from this site. I loved the unexpected design element of hex nuts. We are both super handy so it worked perfectly for this project.
I took a trip to Michaels and Reno Depot to pick out my supplies which consisted of:
- leather cording
- metal buttons (instead of a clasp)
- accent beads (used for mine)
- alphabet beads
- hex nuts (Reno Depot)
As a first timer it took me 2 hours to complete both bracelets. Not too bad if I do say so myself. I just wanted to note what makes these bracelets special is that mine has Hubby’s initial and his has mine. I think I’ll make matching ones for the kids for Christmas!
