19 Sep EXPLORE IT! Water and sleep is nutrition!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the coaching style of an “integrative nutritionist”, allow me to introduce you to health and wellness coaching and how it can work for you.
An Integrative Nutrition coach is a graduate from IIN Institute for Integrative Nutrition based in New York and is certified as a health and wellness professional. The focus of our work is overall “well-being”. Coaching clients back to superior health & wellness our process does not only pertain to the physical element of food. We go beyond food to look at the primary food groups (areas in life that feed and nourish our souls) such as career, relationships, physical activity and spiritual practice. We evaluate the “whole” body/mind connection to see how these areas influence health and weight. As we learn about our clients we gain a better understanding of what’s going on internally and externally. From that point we create a tailored program to achieve optimal health. Ultimately our clients lose weight while building on creating a more balanced mind, body and spirit.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE ROUTINE
People often tell me they dislike routines! I can totally relate, same thing different day. But I can honestly tell you from my experience that “routines” can remedy a person’s well-being. ROUTINES remain a constant, just like that morning coffee. You don’t ask why, you don’t think about it, you just brew it and drink it! Daily routines ultimately show you that you can gain time, have less stress and more energy. All leading to better decisions and more time for you and your family. By days end you will lose weight with little effort.
ROUTINE 1 – WATER…WATER…WATER
I’m sure you’ve heard this before water, water, water, so why are we not drinking enough water? Let me explain why water is such an important routine. The human body is composed of 25% solid matter and 75% water. The body is like a walking ocean and if it’s not fed it will dehydrate and lose flow! Coffee, tea, energy drinks are not water. They contain water, but also contain dehydrating agents that make you thirsty and hungry. Water lubricates your body and nourished your skin. So, how much should you drink? On average, women should drink about 2.2 litres (9 cups) of water each day.

• Tap • Bottled • Filtered • Distilled • Alkaline Ionized Water
It doesn’t matter…bottom line there is no substitute for good old fashion water!
Have your favorite water bottle nearby at all times.
ROUTINE #2 – SLEEP…SLEEP..SLEEP
Did you know that those who sleep less can gain more weight! We often think it’s about the food. Don’t get me wrong, food matters, but sleep is as important 7-8 hours to be exact!
According to sleep experts less sleep…
– increases feelings of hunger and satiety
– contributes to cravings to high-fat high calorie foods
– affects metabolism
– weakens the body
It’s imperative to schedule a bedtime routine. How about letting your alarm clock ring to let you know it’s time to go to bed instead of waking up. EXPLORE MORE SLEEP!!!
Believe it…small steps are the beginning to your “WEIGHT LOSS” wellness journey.

Even if everything is going great when I don’t sleep enough it makes me feel like everything is going wrong. Sleep is essential to living a happy life.
