30 Oct Top 5 Fashion inspired Halloween costumes
Do you have a Halloween party tomorrow night? Are you scrambling for a costume idea?
In the spirit of this blog, I thought I’d do a round-up of some of my favorite fashion-inspired Halloween costumes.
1. Audrey Hepburn
A little black dress, some pearls, a pair of cat-eye sunglasses, a French twist, and a cigarette holder. Voila – Audrey circa Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Check out how brilliantly Marie from The Joy of Fashion did it:
2. Rachel Zoe
Here’s an opportunity to put on those flared jeans you bought and can never figure out what to wear with. Add some huge sunglasses, a faux-fur vest, a bunch of necklaces and bracelets (over-accessorizing is key), and maybe even a beret for good measure. Extra points if you tote around a really well-dressed baby boy and get a tall, dark haired guy to trail after you and answer to the name “Roger”.
3. The Olsen Twins
This one’s fairly simply. Grab your BFF, throw on 25 layers of oversized clothing (you’ll need some plaid in there – and a large quantity of scarves), buy a couple of Starbucks Venti lattes, and you’re good to go. For true authenticity, make sure your hair’s unwashed. Also, if you choose to have something other than coffee in your Starbucks cup, I won’t tell.
4. Karl Lagerfeld
Dust some baby powder in your hair, slick it back into a pony tail, and bronze the hell out of your skin. Find a black suit, a white shirt and a black tie. Black sunglasses are key, and if you can find some fingerless black gloves, you’re golden.
5. Katy Perry
Get yourself a wacky wig, then find a really tiny dress and stick a whole bunch of candy to it. You’ll be way more original than your sexy race car driver, sexy nurse, sexy cat, sexy witch and sexy devil friends, plus you’ll have great snacks readily available when the party food just isn’t cutting it.
