Finding the positive

The way I see it, there are few advantages to being single at this point in life. However, to my loyal readers, last blog I promised I would write about the positive side of being single. So, I did some soul searching, asked some friends and came up with a few things that I would consider as being positive.

1) I do things for me.
I don’t have to worry about planning for someone else. I make plans for me. I get to enjoy my time with the people I want to be with without having to worry if the boyfriend is alright. Bottom line, I don’t have to babysit anyone.

A gift one of my friends bought her ex-boyfriend for good old V-day... what did he get her? NOTHING!

2) I don’t have to buy expensive birthday presents.
Even though I do enjoy buying presents for people, it is an expense I do not have to worry about. From what I’ve heard, the going gift can vary from an Apple TV to a 14K gold tie clip and even to an iPad. Woah, thank goodness there is no boyfriend in my life right now. I just bought myself an iPad! I could’t imagine buying it for someone else.

I could't resist. Isn't this just so factual!

3) Awkward family get-togethers.
I’ve heard friends of mine complain about their boyfriends’ annoying sisters or better yet their bothersome mothers.

I AM glad I don’t have to deal with that.

But let’s be honest, at the end of the day, we choose the people we date and stay with them despite these burdens because of the happiness they bring us. If a relationship does not bring you happiness, then what is the point?

My beloved yoga mat. Keeping me comfy on the floor.

I leave you with that thought. What IS the point? If you find yourself in a downward spiral and your relationship does not bring you happiness, GET OUT OF IT!!! Hit the gym, ( I like the good old YMCA or a nice session of hot yoga at Moksha West Island, but lucky me, my place of work has a full scale gym at my disposal!), do things for you and be thankful you do not have deal with the bothersome mother-in-law types or awkward family get-togethers.

Until next time when we see what happens at the event I will fly solo at, keep fit and have fun.
