22 Nov The importance of great girlfriends
I have been blessed with 3 girls in my life who have shown me that it’s ok to be me and that no guy is worth my time if he can’t see my worthiness.
We offer each other support during those less than desirable times between boyfriends or flings and remind each other of not just our outer beauty, but what is most important, our beauty within.
I find myself reflecting on what it means to have these wonderful women in my life and I am taken back to the film The Help where Viola Davis’ character Aibileen Clark reminds the chubby little girl three things of which all women should remind themselves.
1) You is kind
2) You is smart
3) You is important
Yes, this is poor English and being a teacher, albeit not a English teacher, this nevertheless gets on my nerves. However, we must see past the bad English and realize that Aibileen was right.
Women need to realize that above all things, we are important and smart and a lot of the time, kind, providing it is not the wrong time of the month.
If Joe Shmoe cannot see that for himself, he is not worth it.

Rachel considers her hands her best asset. They are literally her bread and butter! She is a pastry chef extraordinary, but I believe it’s her heart that is her biggest asset.

Cathie showing off her awesome style at her office. Her keen sense of fashion and perseverance landed her this dream job!
Please allow me a moment to introduce you to my lovely ladies that make me smile despite being single. Jordyn, Cathie and Rachel (their names have been changed to protect their…. ahhh they don’t need any protection… I just don’t want people stalking them 🙂
Jordyn is a tall, beautiful, caring, and as Rachel loving refers to her, “A Mediterranean Goddess”. She is also extremely athletic. With goals of making the 2016 Rio Olympics representing Canada, Jordyn has already won a NCAA championship from USC in water polo!
Cathie is a genuine, loving, sincere and passionate person. With her love for fashion, Cathie has landed herself her dream job at one today’s most trendy and fashion forward clothing companies. Does MK mean anything to you? Let’s not forget I’ve known Cathie the longest and we have rekindled our relationship which has given me a sense of comfort and happiness.

You try and get an undergrad while playing college level water polo…oh and all the while winning an NCAA championship and meeting the President of the United States.
And last but not least, Rachel. For over 10 years, woah, that’s a decade, Rachel has been by my side through thick and thin and without hesitation I know I can call on her and she will be by my side at the drop of a dime. She is forgiving, determined, strong willed, patient and she has an ambitious soul that will never let her stop short of reaching for the stars.
I consider myself lucky to be part of their group and in their presence.
Let’s raise a glass to girls and remember to keep fit and have fun.
