27 Sep Master Bedroom DIY – Part 2: The gallery wall
I hope you all enjoyed my first blog post! Before I start telling you about Part 2, I wanted to show you the beautiful pillow my partner in crime found during our weekly trip to Homesense. It couldn’t be more more perfect for my room.
Opposite this wall is my dresser and a very lonely chair that collects dust and clothing. I, however, did clean that up to take a “before” picture. This may surprise many of you who know me, but this is my first ever gallery wall! I am really excited to share it with you. This isn’t your run of the mill gallery wall made up of a bunch of the similar looking frames. I decided to mix it up and make it a little eclectic.
This scrap piece of barn board was my inspiration for this project. I ordered some letters to spell “Love” and painted them red/coral to match the & in Part 1.
I then followed these steps:
- Measured the wall space that I wanted to fill
- Used painters tape to map out my wall space on the floor for guidance
- Pulled out a pile of picture frames from a drawer (I have a little obsession with collecting frames)
- I put scrap fabric on some embroidery hoops I had that were waiting for a time to shine
- Played around to find the perfect layout
- Selected pictures to place in frames
I got out my trusty hang and level, a hammer and some nails and got to work. I started with the bottom row and worked my way up. Just a few placement hiccups and extra nail holes later, I was done.
I love that there were no rules and I went with what inspired me. Each frame is different and with the other elements incorporated, it still all works together. Forget going out and buying matching picture frames and go wild!
