Birthdays are special in my family, especially for my children. I am someone who doesn’t particularly love, or need all the bells and whistles for my own birthday, but my daughters are true birthday queens.
I was woken up with a warm kiss from my husband followed by wet kisses and big hugs from my son. He looked at me with his big beautiful eyes full of excitement and screamed “Happy Birthday Mama!!!”. His enthusiasm was genuine and palpable. And it touched my heart. The warm wishes were followed by the presentation of a card that he had proudly made accompanied by a song as he strummed his toy guitar.
My little boy turned two this week and for some reason, his birthday has stirred up a big pot of emotions in me. I found myself taking a stroll down memory lane and reliving moments with a real sense of nostalgia.
