What I Wore – End of Summer Edition

So here’s me, wearing some of my favourite summer attire. I know it’s September, and I LOVE fall clothes, but I’m making the most of the warm weather before I’m buried under layers of down. I also wanted to show you how I mix and match some of my most-worn pieces.

I am clearly very serious about this outfit.

I am clearly very serious about this outfit.

Skinny jeans were not made for sticky Montreal summers, and as much as I love them, they tend to get neglected from June to September. That’s when my cut-off jean shorts come out to play. My favourites are my Levi’s 501s. They’re not too short and the perfect amount of baggy. There’s not much worse than tight shorts. Well, maybe leggings as pants, but that’s a whole other blog post. Boyfriend jean shorts are always a great choice and flattering on a multitude of figures.

There’s my favourite belt. I wear it so often that it’s starting to get bald patches. I’m also wearing my grey American Apparel v-neck.

I’m a huge fan of stripes.  Mixing prints can be tricky, but I love stripes and leopard together. This J Crew jacket is a couple of years old. My mother-in-law has the same one. You’ll see how she styles it in an upcoming post. The Gap has a great striped blazer on sale now.

It's really hard to hold a serious fashion blogger face.

Can we discuss how much I love these boots?

They’re not available anymore, but I got them on a whim when I had an Aldo gift card burning a hole in my pocket. I like that they’re comfortable , well-priced and a little more interesting than a typical stack-heeled bootie. I’m not sure how they’ll translate to fall weather with socks, but that’s a fashion experiment I’m looking forward to. This very similar pair is available now from Little Burgundy.

This navy, studded leather cuff was an amazing find at the Prada outlet in Italy, otherwise known as The Best Place on Earth. The bow wrap bracelet was an Etsy purchase. Etsy is a great online market-place where you can find TONS of on-trend costume jewelry at reasonable prices. Word on the fashion street is that the arm party is dead, but I’m rarely without a stack of bracelets on my wrists. I’m a firm believer in accessorizing. A couple of bracelets or a cool necklace instantly makes an outfit more interesting.

I’d love to hear about your favourite pieces. What’s hanging in your closet that makes you look forward to getting dressed?

Coming up: Fashion fun for 50+ and the tween set.
