How to Maximize a small space

When I recently asked my followers what they would like tips on, a few asked how to maximize small spaces … There are several different answers to this question, but what I find most effective is using furniture pieces that serve a dual purpose.

If you truly have a small space (small apartment or condo)  you should NEVER have a piece  of furniture that only does one thing!

Today, we are lucky enough to have many options when it comes to double duty furniture ( besides the always wonderful sofa bed).

One of my favorite items are coffee tables that turn themselves into desks/dining tables ( like this one shown from Structube).  These are great because they can actually turn a room into a double/triple duty room.  Your living room can become an office and a dining room! These types of tables are even great to use in an office or library room that has a sofa. It allows you to sit comfortably on the sofa, while doing work on your laptop.

Another great piece is a storage ottoman.  It can be used as a table, extra seating, and of course to store items (always great for throw blankets).

Other ideas include using a large bookshelf as a room divider, or taking a tall thin bookshelf and turning it on its side to have storage as well as bench seating.

If anyone has any design questions that they would like answered in a future blog, please feel free to send them my way!
